Scale
Ingredients
- 28 ounces (2 14-ounce) packages skinless smoked sausage, sliced into 1 inch pieces (Eckrich brand recommended)
- 1½ cups BBQ sauce (Sweet Baby Ray’s brand recommended)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Coat Sausage: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the sliced sausage pieces with the BBQ sauce, stirring thoroughly until all pieces are evenly coated.
- Arrange in Baking Dish: Spread the coated sausage pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish, ensuring they are in a single layer for even cooking.
- Bake: Place the baking dish uncovered in the oven and bake for 45 minutes. Stir the sausage bites every 15 minutes to ensure the BBQ sauce reduces and becomes bubbly, coating the sausage evenly.
Notes
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container or ziplock bag in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Freezing: Freeze in a freezer-safe container or bag for 2-3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
- Reheating: Reheat in a 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes or in the microwave for 1 to 1½ minutes.
- Tips: You can bake immediately after coating or refrigerate until ready to bake.
- Use a light spray of non-stick spray since sausage releases fat while baking.
- For crispier edges, broil for 2-3 minutes after baking.
- Optionally, you can skewer the sausage slices and grill them until crispy for a smoky flavor.
