  • 56 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced (⅛-inch rounds)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground nutmeg (freshly grated recommended)
  • ¼ tsp salt

Topping:

  • ¼ cup chopped pecans (or walnuts, toasted)
  • ½ cup mini marshmallows (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Prepare Sweet Potatoes: In a saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, water, spices, and salt. Bring to a simmer and cook until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Layer Sweet Potatoes: In a baking dish, layer the sweet potatoes and pour the butter mixture over them.
