Description

Char Siu Chicken is a delicious Chinese-inspired dish featuring tender boneless chicken thighs marinated in a flavorful sauce made with hoisin, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, and Chinese five-spice powder.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1⁄4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: Combine hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, garlic, Chinese five-spice powder, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add chicken thighs and marinate for at least 2 hours.
  2. Cook the chicken: Preheat oven to 375°F. Place chicken on a baking sheet lined with foil and bake for 25-30 minutes, basting with marinade halfway through.
  3. Broil the chicken: Switch oven to broil and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until charred.
  4. Serve: Slice the chicken and serve hot with rice or veggies.

Notes

  • You can also grill the chicken for a smoky flavor.
  • Adjust the sweetness and saltiness of the marinade to suit your taste.
