Ingredients
Scale
Gingerbread Syrup
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons molasses
- 1 inch fresh ginger, sliced
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Gingerbread Russian Cocktail
- 2 ounces (1/4 cup) vodka
- 1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) Kahlua
- 1–2 ounces (2–4 tablespoons) gingerbread syrup
- 1–2 ounces (2–4 tablespoons) heavy cream
Garnish
- Cinnamon sticks
- Gingerbread cookies
Instructions
- Prepare the Gingerbread Syrup: In a small saucepan, combine honey, molasses, sliced fresh ginger, and cinnamon sticks. Heat gently over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until the mixture is well combined and fragrant, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Let the syrup cool completely, then strain out the solids, reserving the liquid.
- Mix the Cocktail: In a glass filled with ice, pour vodka and Kahlua. Add 1 to 2 ounces of the prepared gingerbread syrup, depending on your sweetness preference.
- Add Cream: Slowly pour 1 to 2 ounces of heavy cream over the cocktail, allowing it to float on top. Stir gently if desired to blend the flavors or leave layered for visual effect.
- Garnish and Serve: Garnish with a cinnamon stick and a gingerbread cookie on the side for a festive touch. Serve immediately and enjoy your holiday cocktail.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of gingerbread syrup added to the cocktail.
- The gingerbread syrup can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
- For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or milk, but it will change the richness of the drink.
- Shake the cocktail in a cocktail shaker if you prefer a more blended drink instead of layering.
- Use freshly sliced ginger for the best flavor in the syrup.
