Description

This Creamy Buffalo Chicken Dip is a perfectly spicy and cheesy appetizer made in the slow cooker. It combines tender shredded chicken, rich cream cheese, zesty ranch dressing, and tangy hot sauce to create a delicious dip that’s ideal for game day, parties, or casual gatherings. The slow cooker method ensures the dip is warm, smooth, and ready to serve with chips, crackers, or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, cubed (full fat)
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • 4 cups cooked shredded chicken breast
  • ¾ cup ranch dressing
  • ½ cup hot sauce (Frank’s Redhot Sauce preferred)
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese (preferably freshly shredded from the block)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the slow cooker: Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier. Set it to low heat.
  2. Add cream cheese and broth: Place the cubed cream cheese into the slow cooker and add the ½ cup chicken broth. Stir gently to help soften the cream cheese as it begins to warm.
  3. Incorporate chicken and sauces: Add the shredded chicken breast, ranch dressing, and hot sauce to the slow cooker. Mix thoroughly to combine all ingredients evenly.
  4. Cook the dip: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. This allows the cream cheese to fully melt and the flavors to blend together into a creamy dip.
  5. Add cheddar cheese: About 15 minutes before serving, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese, cover again, and let it melt completely.
  6. Serve warm: Once fully melted and heated through, give the dip a final stir and transfer it to a serving bowl or keep it in the slow cooker set to warm. Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, celery sticks, or carrot sticks.

Notes

  • Use freshly shredded cheddar cheese for the best texture and flavor.
  • If you prefer a milder dip, reduce the amount of hot sauce to taste.
  • This dip can be kept warm in the slow cooker on the ‘keep warm’ setting for up to 2 hours.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated gently.
  • For a thicker dip, reduce the chicken broth to ¼ cup or omit it and add more cream cheese.
