Description

Celebrate Easter with these delightful Easter Pudding Dirt Cups that combine creamy chocolate pudding, crunchy Oreo cookie crumbs, vibrant green coconut, and festive candy decorations for a fun and easy-to-make holiday dessert. Perfect for both kids and adults, these pudding cups bring together classic flavors with colorful presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Pudding Base

  • 5.9 oz instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 ½ cups milk
  • 8 oz Cool Whip

Crunchy Layers

  • 15 Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1 cup green food-dyed shredded coconut

Decorations

  • Peeps marshmallow bunny (1 per serving)
  • Cadbury Mini Eggs (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Make the chocolate pudding: In a mixing bowl, combine the instant chocolate pudding mix and 2 ½ cups of milk. Whisk together vigorously for about 2 minutes until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
  2. Fold in Cool Whip: Gently stir in 8 oz of Cool Whip to the pudding mixture until fully incorporated. Refrigerate the pudding mixture for 10 to 15 minutes to allow it to set slightly.
  3. Assemble the dirt cups: Using a piping bag or an ice cream scoop, layer the pudding into the bottom of 8 serving cups. Add a layer of crushed Oreo cookies on top. Repeat the layers until the cups are filled, finishing with a layer of cookie crumbs.
  4. Add festive decorations: Sprinkle the top layer with green-dyed shredded coconut to resemble grass. Place a Peeps marshmallow bunny on each cup and scatter Cadbury Mini Eggs as additional decorative candy accents.
  5. Chill before serving: Refrigerate the completed dirt cups for at least 1 hour to allow them to firm up and the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a dairy-free version, substitute Cool Whip with a dairy-free whipped topping and use a compatible pudding mix.
  • Crush Oreos by placing them in a sealed bag and gently smashing with a rolling pin for an easier method.
  • Green food coloring can be mixed into shredded coconut by adding a few drops and tossing in a ziplock bag, then letting dry for vibrant color.
  • These dirt cups can be made a day in advance and refrigerated until serving.
  • Use clear cups to showcase the layers and make the dessert visually appealing.
