Ingredients
Scale
Meat & Vegetables
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 lbs ground beef, lean
- 3 tsp garlic, minced
Liquids & Sauces
- 2 (15 oz) cans tomato sauce
- 2 (15 oz) cans petite diced tomatoes
- 3 cups beef broth
- 3 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
Seasonings
- 2 tsp seasoned salt
- 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning
- 3 bay leaves
Pasta & Cheese
- 2 cups macaroni noodles, uncooked
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Sauté Vegetables and Brown Beef: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add diced onions, green bell pepper, and ground beef. Cook until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat from the pot and return it to the stovetop. Add minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add Liquids and Noodles, Simmer: Pour in tomato sauce, petite diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, seasoned salt, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and uncooked macaroni noodles. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to a low simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender, about 20 minutes.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the bay leaves from the pot. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until melted and fully incorporated. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious homemade goulash!
Notes
- Be sure to drain excess fat after browning the beef to keep the dish from being greasy.
- Stir occasionally during simmering to prevent the noodles from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
- For a spicier flavor, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days and can be reheated gently on the stove or microwave.
