Description

Festive Christmas Pretzel Rods are a delightful holiday treat combining crunchy pretzel rods dipped in colorful candy coatings and decorated with a variety of fun sprinkles. Perfect for gifting or holiday parties, these easy-to-make pretzel rods blend sweet and salty flavors with seasonal colors and textures.

Ingredients

Pretzels

  • Pretzel rods – 20 rods

Candy Coatings

  • Brown candy coating (milk chocolate morsels or chocolate almond bark) – 1 cup
  • White candy coating (white chocolate morsels or vanilla almond bark) – 1 cup
  • Green candy coating – 1 cup
  • Red candy coating – 1 cup

Decorations

  • Assorted sprinkles: Confetti Holly Mix – 2 tablespoons
  • Mini M&M’s – 2 tablespoons
  • Wilton Holiday Nonpareils – 2 tablespoons
  • Wilton Christmas Snowflake Sprinkles – 2 tablespoons
  • Crushed peppermint – 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Prepare Candy Coatings: Melt each candy coating separately using a microwave or double boiler until smooth and pourable. Stir frequently to ensure even melting and avoid burning.
  2. Dip Pretzel Rods: Holding a pretzel rod by one end, dip the other end into the desired melted candy coating, covering about two-thirds of the rod. Gently tap off excess coating to prevent drips.
  3. Decorate: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle your choice of festive sprinkles or crushed peppermint onto the wet candy coating to adhere properly before it hardens.
  4. Set Pretzels: Place the dipped and decorated pretzel rods onto parchment or wax paper to dry. Allow them to set at room temperature until the coating hardens completely, about 20-30 minutes.
  5. Store and Serve: Once set, store pretzel rods in an airtight container at room temperature to maintain freshness. Serve for holiday parties, gifting, or festive snacking.

Notes

  • Use almond bark or candy melts for easier melting and sturdier coating.
  • To prevent cracking in candy coating, melt gently and avoid overheating.
  • Decorate immediately after dipping to ensure sprinkles stick.
  • Store in a cool, dry place to avoid melting or stickiness.
  • Customize with different sprinkles to match your holiday theme.
