Description

Delicious French Toast Roll-Ups made with bread slices wrapped around fully cooked sausage links, dipped in a cinnamon-sugar egg mixture, and cooked to golden brown perfection. This fun and easy breakfast recipe combines the flavors of classic French toast with savory sausage, perfect for a hearty morning meal or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale

Roll-Ups

  • 10 slices bread
  • 10 fully cooked sausage links

Batter

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bread: Flatten each slice of bread using a rolling pin or your hands until it is thin enough to easily roll around the sausage link.
  2. Assemble the Roll-Ups: Place one fully cooked sausage link at the edge of each flattened bread slice and roll it up tightly, ensuring the sausage is completely enclosed.
  3. Make the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and all-purpose flour until smooth and well combined.
  4. Dip the Roll-Ups: Dip each bread-wrapped sausage roll-up into the egg mixture, turning to coat all sides thoroughly.
  5. Cook the Roll-Ups: Heat a lightly greased skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Place the coated roll-ups seam side down on the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Remove from heat and serve warm. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup for extra sweetness.

Notes

  • You can substitute sausage links with breakfast sausage patties if preferred.
  • If preferred, add a pinch of nutmeg to the batter for extra warmth in flavor.
  • Make sure the sausages are fully cooked before wrapping and frying.
  • Use whole wheat bread for a healthier option.
  • Serve with maple syrup or honey for dipping.
