For the Cake Layers:
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
For the Chocolate Layer:
- ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp milk
For the Strawberry Layer:
- ¼ cup strawberry puree (or strawberry jam)
- 2–3 drops red food coloring (optional, for vibrancy)
For the Frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Cake Layers: Mix dry ingredients, cream butter and sugar, add eggs and vanilla, alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, divide batter into 3 portions.
- Make the Chocolate Layer: Mix cocoa powder with milk until smooth.
- Create the Strawberry Layer: Mix strawberry puree with food coloring.
- Assemble the Cake: Layer the cake with chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry layers.
- Prepare the Frosting: Cream butter, add powdered sugar, vanilla, and cream until smooth.
- Frost the Cake: Cover the cake with frosting and decorate as desired.
Notes
- You can adjust the intensity of the strawberry layer by adding more or less food coloring.
- Feel free to add fresh strawberries on top for a garnish.
