Ingredients
Scale
For the Apples:
- 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 ½ cups diced apples – peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 Tablespoon water
- 1–2 Tablespoons brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
For the Graham Cracker Crust:
- ½ cup graham cracker crumbs
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter – melted
For the Cream Cheese Layer:
- 6 oz. light cream cheese
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 Tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Other:
- ¼ cup caramel topping (or more to taste)
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: In a medium skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, water, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and caramelized, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Make the Graham Cracker Crust: In a small bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand. Set aside.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer: In a mixing bowl, beat the light cream cheese until smooth. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese until fully combined and creamy.
- Assemble the Mason Jars: Spoon a layer of the graham cracker crust into the bottom of each mason jar and press down lightly to form a base. Next, add a layer of the cooked apples over the crust.
- Add Cream Cheese Layer: Spoon or pipe the cream cheese mixture over the apple layer in each jar, smoothing the top with the back of a spoon or spatula.
- Top with Caramel Sauce: Drizzle the caramel topping generously over the cream cheese layer to finish the dessert.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the filled jars for at least 1 hour to allow the layers to set and flavors to meld. Serve chilled and enjoy your individual Mason Jar Apple Pie desserts.
Notes
- You can adjust the sweetness of the apples by varying the amount of brown sugar to your preference.
- Use crisp apple varieties like Granny Smith or Fuji for the best texture and flavor.
- For a lighter version, substitute the heavy cream with a whipped topping alternative, though it may affect the texture.
- If you don’t have mason jars, small dessert glasses or cups also work well.
- The dessert can be prepared a day in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator.
