Description

These Pizza Pot Pies are a fun and delicious twist on classic pizza, featuring a flaky pizza dough crust filled with marinara sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, and Italian seasonings. Perfect for a family meal or casual gathering, these individual pot pies offer the comfort of pizza in a convenient, handheld format.

Ingredients

Scale

Pizza Dough

  • 1 package refrigerated pizza dough (or homemade pizza dough)

Filling

  • 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (or your choice of toppings such as sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Finishing

  • Olive oil for brushing (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dough: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out refrigerated pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut dough into rounds large enough to fit and cover your pot pie molds or ramekins.
  2. Fill Pot Pies: In each pot pie mold, spread a spoonful of marinara sauce, then add mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices or desired toppings, Parmesan cheese, and sprinkle with dried oregano, basil, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes if using. Add more cheese or sauce as desired for flavor and moisture.
  3. Assemble Pot Pies: Place another dough round on top to seal the pot pie. Pinch edges together firmly to prevent filling leakage during baking. If desired, brush the top of the dough with olive oil for a golden crust.
  4. Bake: Place the assembled pot pies on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through. Let them cool slightly before serving to avoid burning from hot fillings.

Notes

  • You can customize the filling with your favorite pizza toppings such as sausage, mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives.
  • Make sure to seal the edges well to prevent leaks during baking.
  • Brush the dough with olive oil or an egg wash for a shinier, golden crust.
  • Let the pot pies cool for a few minutes after baking as the filling will be very hot.
  • These can be made ahead and reheated in the oven to retain crispness.
