Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Mixture
- 1 ½ cups semisweet or dark chocolate chips
- 1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter
Dry Ingredients
- 5 cups Rice Chex Cereal
- 1 ½ cups mini pretzels, broken into pieces
- 2 cups powdered sugar
Mix-ins
- 1 ½ cups red and green M&Ms
- 1 cup mini peanut butter cups
Instructions
- Prepare the Chocolate Peanut Butter Mixture: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet or dark chocolate chips and creamy peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the Rice Chex Cereal and broken mini pretzels. Gently stir to mix.
- Mix Together: Pour the warm chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the cereal and pretzels. Using a spatula, gently fold the mixture to coat everything evenly without breaking the cereal.
- Coat with Powdered Sugar: Transfer the coated cereal mixture into a large zip-top bag or a deep bowl. Add the powdered sugar, seal the bag or cover the bowl, and shake or gently stir until all pieces are well covered with powdered sugar.
- Add Candy Mix-ins: Once coated and cooled, transfer the mixture back to a large bowl and fold in the red and green M&Ms and mini peanut butter cups evenly throughout.
- Serve and Store: Serve immediately for a crunchy treat, or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week to maintain freshness.
Notes
- For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter and use nut-free chocolate chips.
- Ensure the chocolate-peanut butter mixture is not too hot before mixing with cereal to avoid sogginess.
- Mini pretzels add a nice salty crunch, but you can omit or replace them with nuts if preferred.
- This mix is best enjoyed within a week to keep the texture crispy and fresh.
