Description

This Smashburger Quesadillas recipe combines seasoned ground beef with melty cheddar cheese and fresh, crunchy vegetables sandwiched between warm flour tortillas. A flavorful fusion of classic burger ingredients and Mexican quesadilla style, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Seasonings

  • 500 g ground beef mince
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp oregano

Quesadilla Components

  • 4 small flour tortillas
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1 head baby gem lettuce, shredded
  • 30 g sliced gherkins
  • 0.5 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 4 tbsp burger sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, mix the ground beef with paprika, garlic granules, onion powder, and oregano until well combined.
  2. Cook the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, then add the seasoned beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Assemble the Quesadillas: Lay 2 flour tortillas on a clean surface. Spread 4 slices of cheddar cheese evenly across each tortilla. Distribute the cooked beef mince over the cheese.
  4. Add Fresh Ingredients: Layer sliced tomatoes, shredded baby gem lettuce, sliced gherkins, and thinly sliced red onion over the beef on each tortilla. Drizzle 2 tablespoons of burger sauce on top of each.
  5. Top and Cook: Place the remaining 2 tortillas on top of the layered ones. Heat a clean skillet or griddle over medium heat and carefully transfer each assembled quesadilla. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until the tortillas are golden and crispy, and the cheese has melted.
  6. Serve: Remove from heat and let rest for a minute before cutting each quesadilla into wedges. Serve immediately with extra burger sauce if desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute flour tortillas with whole wheat for a healthier option.
  • Adjust the seasoning on the beef to your taste preference.
  • Cook the quesadillas on medium heat to ensure the cheese melts without burning the tortillas.
  • Use a spatula to gently press down the quesadillas while cooking for better even melting.
