Description

This Spiced Christmas Margarita is a festive twist on the classic margarita, blending smooth tequila with vibrant pomegranate and orange juices, enhanced by warming spices like cinnamon, ginger, and a hint of cayenne. Sweetened with honey and accented with vanilla extract and a rosemary sprig, this cocktail is perfect for holiday celebrations, bringing both warmth and zest to your glass.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquids and Spirits

  • 2 oz Tequila (recommended Patron Silver)
  • 2.5 oz Pomegranate juice
  • 2 oz Orange juice
  • 0.5 oz Orange liqueur (e.g. Cointreau)
  • Ginger beer (optional, to top)

Flavorings and Spices

  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • ¼ tsp Vanilla extract
  • ⅛ tsp Ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp Ground ginger
  • 1 pinch Cayenne pepper

Garnish

  • 1 sprig Rosemary

Instructions

  1. Mix the base ingredients: In a shaker or mixing glass, combine 2 oz of tequila, 2.5 oz pomegranate juice, 2 oz fresh orange juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, 1 tablespoon honey, ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract, ⅛ teaspoon ground cinnamon, ⅛ teaspoon ground ginger, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Stir or shake well until the honey is fully dissolved and all ingredients are blended.
  2. Prepare your glass: Fill a margarita glass with ice to chill it while you prepare the cocktail. Optionally, you can rim the glass with sugar or cinnamon sugar for extra festive flair.
  3. Strain and serve: Discard the ice in your glass and strain the mixed cocktail into it over fresh ice. This ensures a fresh and cold drink without dilution from melted ice in the shaker.
  4. Add ginger beer (optional): If you like a fizzy touch, top off the margarita with a splash of ginger beer for added spice and effervescence.
  5. Garnish and enjoy: Finish by garnishing the drink with a fresh sprig of rosemary. This adds an aromatic, festive scent and a beautiful visual element to your Christmas Margarita.

Notes

  • Honey adds natural sweetness and balances the tartness of pomegranate and orange juice.
  • The pinch of cayenne pepper gives a subtle warming heat, enhancing the holiday spice theme.
  • If you prefer a less sweet drink, reduce the honey amount or omit the ginger beer.
  • Use fresh orange juice for the best flavor and brightness.
  • The rosemary sprig can also be lightly bruised to release more aroma before garnishing.
