Ingredients
Scale
For the Ground Beef:
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
For the Veggies:
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
- 1/2 zucchini, sliced
- 1/2 cup mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
For the Base:
- 1 cup steamed white rice
Instructions
- Prepare the rice: Begin by steaming 1 cup of white rice according to package instructions or your preferred method. Set aside and keep warm.
- Cook the ground beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef along with 2 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon brown sugar. Stir and cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the veggies: In the same skillet, add 1 tablespoon olive oil. Once hot, add 2 cloves of minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the broccoli florets, sliced red bell pepper, sliced zucchini, and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until veggies are tender-crisp. Add 1 teaspoon soy sauce to season and toss to coat evenly.
- Combine and serve: Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the veggies and toss to combine everything well. Adjust seasoning if necessary. Serve the spicy ground beef stir-fry over the warm steamed rice immediately for a hearty and delicious meal.
Notes
- Adjust chili flakes to your preferred spice level.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier option.
- Substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based meat for variation.
- You can swap white rice for brown rice or cauliflower rice for a nutritious twist.
- Cook veggies to your desired tenderness; less time for crispiness, longer for softer texture.
