- 1 (16 ounce) block mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt, divided
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, divided
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce
- 1 1/3 cups seasoned breadcrumbs
- 2/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 4 tablespoons paprika, divided
- 2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or more as needed
Spice Mix:
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3 tablespoons cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
Dipping Sauce:
- ranch dressing for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare the cheese sticks: Cut the mozzarella into sticks, coat in flour, then dip in egg mixture and breadcrumbs.
- Make the spice mix: Combine garlic powder, cayenne pepper, brown sugar, and paprika in a bowl.
- Fry the sticks: Heat oil, fry the coated cheese sticks until golden brown.
- Spice it up: Toss the fried sticks in the spice mix for Nashville hot flavor.
- Serve: Enjoy hot with ranch dressing for dipping.
Notes
- You can adjust the level of spiciness by reducing or increasing the cayenne pepper in the spice mix.
- Make sure the oil is at the right temperature before frying to achieve a crispy exterior.
