Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 1 box Club crackers (about 36 crackers)
Bacon Topping
- 1 pound bacon, cut into thirds
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- Cayenne pepper, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the bacon pieces: Cut the bacon slices into thirds ensuring uniform size for even cooking.
- Coat with seasoning: Combine brown sugar, cayenne pepper, and black pepper in a bowl. Toss the bacon pieces in this mixture until well coated to create a flavorful glaze.
- Arrange on crackers: Lay out the club crackers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place one piece of coated bacon on each cracker.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the bacon-topped crackers for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the sugar has caramelized, watching carefully to prevent burning.
- Cool and serve: Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly so the sugar hardens into a crackly topping. Serve warm or at room temperature as a sweet and spicy appetizer.
Notes
- You can adjust the cayenne pepper to increase or decrease spiciness according to your preference.
- Using thick-cut bacon may require slightly longer baking time.
- Watch closely towards the end of baking to prevent the sugar from burning.
- These crackers are best enjoyed the same day for optimal crispness.
