Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Rolls
- 8 soft taco size flour tortillas
- ½ cup pizza sauce
- 6 ounces full-size sliced pepperoni (about 80 slices, 10 slices per roll)
- 8 string cheese sticks, room temperature
- 2–3 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
Instructions
- Spread Sauce: Spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce onto the bottom center of each flour tortilla, leaving a ¼ inch border around the edge to prevent overflow.
- Add Pepperoni: Place 10 slices of pepperoni evenly over the pizza sauce on each tortilla, ensuring full coverage for flavor.
- Add Cheese: Lay one whole string cheese stick on top of the pepperoni on each tortilla for a melty center.
- Roll the Tortillas: Carefully and tightly roll up each tortilla with the filling inside, then place seam side down to keep them sealed. Repeat for all tortillas.
- Prepare Air Fryer: Remove the basket from the air fryer and lightly spray it with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F for 3-4 minutes with the basket out.
- Brush with Oil: Use a pastry brush to evenly coat the tops of the rolled tortillas with extra virgin olive oil to promote browning and crispiness.
- Cook Rolls: Place 3-4 pizza rolls in the air fryer basket with some space between each. Cook at 375°F for 9-10 minutes until the rolls are golden brown and crisp. Serve warm.
Notes
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Freezing: Freeze uncooked pizza rolls for up to 1 month. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
- Tortilla Preparation: Warm tortillas in the microwave for 20-25 seconds if they are cold or stiff to make rolling easier.
- Cheese Temperature: Using room-temperature string cheese helps achieve a meltier center but refrigerated cheese can be used if needed.
- Oil Choice: You can substitute vegetable oil for olive oil, but avoid butter as it may cause burning.
