Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Sauce
- 1.5 pounds chicken breast, boneless and skinless
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped or left whole
- 10.5 ounces cream of chicken soup
- ¾ cup chicken stock
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- ¼ cup butter
- 0.6 ounces Italian dressing mix (dry powdered, e.g., Good Seasons)
Pasta
- 1 pound angel hair pasta
Instructions
- Prepare the Crockpot: Spray the inside of the crockpot with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Add Chicken and Garlic: Place the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the crockpot along with the chopped or whole garlic cloves.
- Soften Butter and Cream Cheese: Soften the butter and cream cheese in the microwave until pliable and easy to whisk.
- Make Creamy Sauce: Whisk the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth. Then whisk in the undiluted cream of chicken soup.
- Mix in Seasoning and Stock: Add the dry Italian dressing mix and chicken stock to the cream mixture. Whisk thoroughly until well combined.
- Combine with Chicken: Pour the creamy mixture evenly over the chicken breasts in the crockpot.
- Cook Low and Slow: Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours to allow the chicken to become tender and infused with flavors.
- Shred Chicken (Optional): About 30 minutes before cooking ends, shred the chicken breasts using two forks if desired, then continue cooking in the sauce to absorb more flavor.
- Cook Pasta: Just before the chicken finishes cooking, prepare the angel hair pasta according to package instructions. Drain well.
- Serve: Plate the cooked pasta and serve the creamy chicken mixture over it for a comforting meal.
Notes
- Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container or covered with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to three days. This recipe does not freeze well.
- Tips: Be sure to spray the crockpot well with nonstick cooking spray or use a slow cooker liner to make cleanup easier.
- Important: Use dry powdered Italian salad dressing mix, not bottled salad dressing. Do not mix the packet with water as the recipe requires it dry.
