Description

This Spicy Guacamole recipe combines ripe avocados with fresh lime juice, tomatoes, onions, serrano peppers, and aromatic spices to create a vibrant, flavorful dip perfect for parties or snacks. Easy to prepare in just 15 minutes, this guacamole delivers a perfect balance of creaminess, heat, and zest.

Ingredients

Scale

Fresh Produce

  • 3 large avocados
  • 3 Tbsp lime juice, freshly squeezed from 1 1/2 limes
  • 1 medium tomato, seeded and diced
  • 1/2 white onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup cilantro, from 1/2 bunch
  • 2 serrano peppers, finely chopped (or use jalapenos for milder guac)
  • 2 cloves garlic, pressed

Spices & Seasonings

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Cut the avocados in half and remove the seeds. Scoop the avocado flesh into a flat-bottomed bowl and mash it using a potato masher or fork until reaching your desired consistency. Immediately squeeze the freshly squeezed lime juice over the mashed avocados to add flavor and prevent browning.
  2. Add Onion and Peppers: Finely chop the white onion and serrano peppers (remove seeds if you prefer less heat). Add both to the avocado mixture, stirring gently to combine.
  3. Incorporate Tomato: Cut the tomato in half, remove the seeds to avoid excess moisture, and dice it finely. Add the diced tomato to the bowl and mix carefully to maintain texture.
  4. Add Garlic and Cilantro: Press the garlic cloves to release their flavor and finely chop the cilantro. Add both to the guacamole bowl and mix evenly.
  5. Season the Guacamole: Sprinkle in the ground cumin, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir all ingredients together until well combined. Serve immediately for the freshest taste.

Notes

  • To make ahead, cover the guacamole tightly with plastic wrap, pressing the wrap directly onto the surface to prevent air contact. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • If a milder guacamole is preferred, substitute serrano peppers with jalapenos or reduce the amount of peppers.
  • Use ripe but firm avocados for the best texture.
